Squashed Beak-like Nose After Splint Was Removed

Since I had the splint taken off yesterday, the snout look has improved slightly. But now, I have a squashed looking beak nose from front view, and I still have one nostril higher than the other. I had the splint on for 5 days and got the Rhinoplasty itself 6 days ago. My nose right now looks ridiculously stupid, and I'm just wondering if this is normal, and will it stay like this when the swelling does eventually go down?

Three Weeks before you should look at your nose

We usually ask our patient to not comment on the appearance of their nose for about three weeks... There is no way to assess a result until the substantial amount of swelling that accompanies rhinoplasty surgery subside. Interval improvement is seen at 3 weeks 3 months and one year.

Squashed Nose

It is very possible your nose can look "stupid" 6 days after surgery. You will see a big change over the next few weeks. Being stupid usually improves with time.

Time and take photos of Rhinoplasty results

I would not judge things until the swelling subsides. Wait a couple of weeks and post a frontal and side photo. Usually, about 70-80% of the swelling is gone two weeks after surgery if you sleep with the head elevated. However, it can take 12 months or longer for the remaining swelling to leave. Revision cases can take up to three years for the final increments of swelling to disappear. Hopefully what you are seeing is normal swelling. Check in with us later.

Rhinoplasty, is That a Nose or Squashed Emu Beak?

Hi Lailah, I thought that Aussies were a patient people. It is way too early to stress about the shape of your nose. Hopefully you chose your rhinoplasty surgeon carefully and trusted her/his abilties. It takes a couple of weeks for the initial swelling to go down, and then months before the nose has settled. We do not consider revision rhinoplasty for at least 6 to 12 months after surgery. Relax, have some tea and Vegemite, and let us know how it goes. Remember, "Patience is... more
