Weight loss before tummy tuck

If you are at your usual, healthy weight, you could have surgery now.  If you are committed to dropping a few pound (or is it Kilos in Ireland?), and maintaing that weight, do that first and result will be even better and recovery maybe a little easier. Lisa Lynn Sowder, M.D. and another mum

Tummy tucks

Based on your photo you would benefit from a tummy tuck with liposuction of your flanks. I would recommend losing more weight prior to the surgery. You will have a better cosmetic outcome. You will also have fewer complications at a lower body weight.  That's simple health. I can not say what the correct weight is for you, but it should be a weight that you are comfortable with and that you can maintain.

Am I A Good Candidate for Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)?

Based on your photos, I think you will achieve a very noticeable improvement with abdominoplasty, assuming you choose a well-trained plastic surgeon. see video

What result can be expected after abdominoplasty? Is weight loss necessary?

I think that if you lost more weight, you would just get frustrated by progressive sagging of your belly skin.  There would be a deflational effect on skin that is already drooping. You should be able to expect an excellent result with a tummy tuck and liposculpture.

Tummy tuck and liposuction question

Based on your photos, it looks like you would be a good candidate for a full tummy tuck, perhaps with some liposuction of the flank area.  This would remove the extra skin up front, repair your separated abdominal muscles, and help with shaping of the waist area. If you are planning to lose more than 10 lbs (4-5 kg), I would suggest doing that first, and having the surgery thereafter.   All the best,

Abdominoplasty,Tummy tuck results

You are an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck because of the excess skin as well as fullness whicvh is either because of the spread of your abdominal muscles(diastasis recti) or excess fat in the area. In either case, a tummy tuck could reduce the fullness, bring in the waist and remove the excess skin. Watch my video. see video

Tummy tuck results are best at ideal weight

Based on your photo you would benefit from a tummy tuck with liposuction of your flanks.  I would recommend losing more weight prior to the surgery for a few reasons.  You will have a better cosmetic outcome because more skin will be able to be removed at a lower weight.  You will also have fewer complications at a lower body weight (infection, wound healing issues, blood clots, etc.) I can not say what the correct weight is for you, but it should be a weight that you... more

Results to expect after a tummy tuck

A tummy tuck is a safe and effective procedure to contour the abdomen, create a tight waist, and remove extra skin, fat, and stretch marks. In our practice, we feel that as every patient is unique, so should every tummy tuck be as well. During the initial consult, we spent a great deal of time understanding with the patient's goals are, what their activity level is, and the challenges that we may need to overcome. In doing this, we can then create a surgical plan that will... more

Good Candidate for Abdominoplasty

Hi there- It looks like you are a good candidate for an abdominoplasty now and weight loss would not be necessary... If you are committed to losing more weight however, I would do so before the procedure, and be sure your weight is stable for at least a few months before proceeding...

Abdominoplasty and weight loss

Just from your photos, you look like a reasonable candidate for a tummy tuck, but if you plan on losing more weight, your result may be better.

Great results for a tummy tuck

Hello, It is best to be at an ideal weight(normal BMI) prior to a tummy tuck so that the results and safety of the procedure are optimal and predictable. If there is an excess amount of fat in the abdominal region the abdominal flaps may not heal well or be level with one another as this area is not safe to liposuction concurrently. If there are small pockets of fat in the hips ot thighs these would be safely amenable to liposuction at the... more

Lose weight before tummy tuck if you can

Unless you are at your ideal body weight, the goal that you can reach and maintain it can pay to delay tummy tuck. You may continue to develop skin laxity through weight loss, and may reduce intra abdominal fat as well which can further flatten the stomach and improve results. Currently you would have a very nice improvement but why not go the distance if you can. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd

Abdominoplasty

You should be at your ideal weight.  That said, the skin roll you have may not change much if you lose further weight.  you will see a nice improvement.

Being at your ideal weight for at least 6 months is recommended before tummy tuck.

You will achieve the best results if you loose weight prior to surgery.  We recommend patients to be at their ideal weight for at least 6 months prior to surgery. see video

Abdominoplasty Best at Ideal Body Weight

Patients will typically obtain a better result from tummy tuck if they are at or near their ideal body weight.  This is because there is a limit to the amount of fat which can safely be suctioned.  From your photos it appears that you could ungergo abdominoplasty at this time, but if your weight loss has not plateaued you should attempt to lose a few more pounds.

Ready for a tummy tuck?

Based on your pictures, you seem to be ready for a tummy tuck and liposuction. If possible, losing more weight would help but it depends on where your body tends to accumulate fat. If you've always had a full abdomen regardless of your weight, then it may be hard to make that area better before surgery.

What can a tummy tuck achieve?

Tummy tuck (also called abdominoplasty) is a very popular cosmetic surgery procedure. Both men and women are finding that tummy tuck can be an effective tool for shaping and sculpting the body for better body appearance and improved self esteem. Sometimes no amount of diet and exercise can create a flat tummy.  Tummy tuck plastic surgery actually tightens abdominal muscles and removes excess fat and skin from the stomach area to create a tighter, slimmer, smoother belly. Losing weight before a tummy tuck

If you can lose weight before the tummy tuck, then the abdominal muscles can be tightened to a greater degree and more skin can be removed. Although you would look a lot better if you were to have the tummy tuck now, I believe that if you lost a little weight before the surgery, the abdominal contours would be better
