If you have more than just a little loose skin, Smart Lipo will not do much for it. I have done plenty of both Smart Lipo and Tummy Tucks and am doing less Smart Lipo for the tummy now. Part of your pouch is likely loosened muscle envelope anyway and Smart Lipo does nothing for that.
Will Smart Lipo tighten skin post pregnancy?
I have had two very big babies and stretched out my tummy skin. I don't have any stretch marks, just loose skin and a pooch. Will smart lipo work to tighten the skin and get rid of the pooch? I am about 5-10 lbs overweight now. Anyone with loose skin that had the procedure?

In my experience with the laser and ultrasonic lipo tools, there is no significant difference in skin tightening. The SmartLipo machine is a very good modality for removing excess fat in a very gentle way and also tightens skin. The problem is that studies on the amount of skin contraction are very limited so it is difficult to say exactly how much skin tightening you will achieve. Studies due show some modest collagen growth if the tissue is heated to about 42degrees C (which can be measured during the procedure). One other technique that can be employed during this procedure called a subdermal release, which can help release the skin from the underlying fat improving the amount of in skin contraction after the procedure. Note the final results in the realm of skin contraction usually show up in a few months but can take as long as 6-12 months.

SMART LIPO is an excellent tool for removing post pregnancy "baby fat" and tightening the skin. However, the following things need to be in place: You need to be at least 6 months post delivery due to the fact that your body changes during this time. The skin continues to shrink on it's own after having a baby during those first six months. At that point you can consider having smart lipo. It is more effective than tradional liposuction because the laser tightens the skin. If the amount of skin laxity after six months continues to be a lot, you might have to consider a tummy tuck. Smart lipo will not remove strech marks. These can only be removed by a tummy tuck.

I am so confused about all the different options. Can someone recommend a good West LA doctor who can perform a procedure for postbaby pouch? Upper and lower abdomen (either Vaser or hybrid tummy tuck - results for smart lipo do not seem that great). I definitely want to see tightening of the skin - I am in great shape otherwise- just can't get rid of this pouch!
