What are the age requirements for SmartLipo?

Hi my name is Lakesha and I'm 22, and I was thinking about getting smartlipo, but I was wondering if it was safe for women my age.

I'm young and I just want to enjoy my life. Is Smart Lipo safe for young girls?

Please feel free to respond. Thanks

A: SmartLipo Age Requirements

Bruce Katz, MD

There is no real age requirement, but we do want you to be at least 18 yrs old. We do not determine safety by your age, we want to make sure you are healthy. That’s most important. Smart Lipo candidates can range from ages 18 and up!

I am 26 years old and looking for a solution for unwanted fat around the abdomen area. I go to the gym twice a day and 6 days of the week and simply can not seem to get rid of the fat remaining in that area. I am looking towards SmartLipo to solve this for me. My question is... Will SmartLipo affect me if and when I decide to have children? I have seen many women undergo liposuction and when the fat returns (whether due to pregnancy or simply not taking care of themselves) to the areas that was treated, it almost looks likes lumps of fat that appear in differenet areas.

Generally we would prefer the person undergoing Smart Lipo to be a consentable adult and as such generally wait until they are 18 years old. The safety profile does not generally change for someone based on age factors alone.  So long as you are reasonably healthy you should not have any problem undergoing SmartLipo at the age of 22. We have performed SmartLipo on young women such as yourself as well as on people in their 60's. Good luck!
