I had a TT with MR 2 1/2 weeks ago. Everything has been fine. I had noticed some swelling around my belly button but just figured it was normal. I was just at the doctor yesterday but since i figured it was just general swelling, I didn't say anything. Its still there today and I can feel more of a small pocket of fluid, a bit smaller than a quarter, under the skin. My doctor is out of town this week, but I will still call on Monday. Is this normal? Is it cause for concern?

Answer: Small seromas around the navel are possible but don't need to be treated urgently.
As with all medicines, your surgeon and anesthetist should be aware of what you are taking to avoid reactions with other drugs that may be given during your surgery. That said, gabapentin is frequently used for pre-op anxiety, and to reduce pain med usage after surgery.
I see...
It is surely possible to have your lapband removed and undergo abdominoplasty at the same time. Your lapband removal would likely be paid for by your insurance carrier. I would suggest that a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery performs the tummy tuck.
It is hard to make a diagnosis here without an exam, but some form of infection or "fat necrosis" is likely. You should make an appointment for an office visit with your surgeon for instructions.
All the best.
