Its not too bad but wrinkly and some little sagging around tummy, butt and inner thighs. Is there anything I can do besides surgery to get rid of this? As I am young and not yet had kids I wouldnt want to put my body through that yet. Thanks heaps!
Answer: Addressing Skin Tightening After Significant Weight Loss Thank you for your question about skin tightening options following a substantial weight loss of 50 kg. I understand the challenges you're facing with loose, sagging skin, and your desire for improvement in its appearance. Skin Elasticity Factors: Your skin's ability to retract post-weight loss is influenced by genetics, age, smoking history, radiation damage (like sun exposure), and the extent of weight loss. After such a significant weight loss, the skin's elasticity is often compromised, making it difficult for the skin to constrict or contract back to its former state naturally. Limitations of Non-Surgical Modalities: While skin treatments like J-plasma or RENUVION show promise in non-weight loss patients, their effectiveness is considerably limited in cases of major weight loss, particularly over 50 kg. Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Approaches: Unfortunately, no non-surgical methods can adequately tighten excessively loose skin following a 50 kg weight loss. Building Muscle Mass: One non-surgical approach you might consider is building muscle mass. Through weight lifting and exercise, you can increase muscle volume beneath the skin, which may slightly improve skin tightness. However, this approach has its limitations and may not fully address significant skin laxity. Considering the extent of your weight loss, a consultation with a plastic surgeon might be beneficial to explore surgical options for skin tightening. They can provide you with information tailored to your specific situation. I hope this information helps you understand the available options and their limitations. Wishing you the best of luck in your journey to achieve your desired results. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Skin Tightening Options After 50kg Weight Loss and Loose Skin?
Thank you for your question. There are a lot of things you can do, but your return on them will be minimal. Surgery unfortunately, is your best option. Avoid wasting a lot of money on therapies, creams, or other magic remedies which only drain money and give you nothing back. Just wait until you're ready for a surgery, find a good Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, and do the best thing for your condition. I see many people who finally decide on a Tummy Tuck, but have already spend 5-6K on hopeful other alternatives, and none have worked. If you have unlimited resources, then try everything you can prior to surgery if your curiosity needs to be satisfied. But if you were my sister, I would recommend a Tummy Tuck. I hope this helps.

Answer: Skin tightening after weight loss
Unfortunately, other than surgery, there is not much you can do for loose and saggy skin after weight loss. When you are overweight your skin stretches and when you lose weight you are relying on the elastic potential of your tissues to take up the slack. If the tissues have been stretched beyond this potential then nothing other than surgery will help. Your age, genetics and how much overweight you were are all important factors.
There are no proven non surgical methods for removing the excess skin.
I suggest that you do your best to get as fit and healthy as you can. If you put on some muscle bulk that may help take up some of the slack skin and help restore your confidence.
I agree that deferring surgery until after children is a good idea, unless you are very unhappy with your current body.
Kind regards,
Dean

Answer: Skin Tightening Options After 50kg Weight Loss and Loose Skin?
The sagging around the tummy should probably be addressed in the future after pregnancy. A thigh lift or a Brazilian buttlift may be a couple of options that be utilized in a young person to provide long term results. Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of Brazilian buttlifts each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Skin Tightening Options After 50kg Weight Loss and Loose Skin? Based on what you describe, I feel your only good option is surgery. I don't believe there are good non-surgical options after that much weight loss. I recommend that you wait until after you have children, if that is what you desire, and then consider surgery once your weight is stable for many months. Congratulations on the weight loss! For more information, please go to my website at:WirthPlasticSurgery.com
