Skin Not Shaped Same, Will It Be Fixed After Surgery (BA)? (photo)

Will the skin in the middle of my breast (I notice that they differ) make my future implants come out shaped funny in the middle? I am getting 375cc memory gel implants under muscle. My dr. said that my nipple position was perfect and that the only small problem I had was one breast was lower than the other. But he said he can fix that by lowering the implant. I trust my dr.s work, but I hope the natural shape of my breast will make my BA look great. Just worried about the final look...

Expectations and final results after breast augmentation

Thank you for posting your photo. You have a very common situation; one breast is shaped differently than the other. Lowering the fold is possible, but as others here have stated, it can lead to significant problems in the long run. I tell my patients that we do everything possible to make the breasts attractive with a symmetrical appearance. But the good Lord did not give you perfect breasts, and none of us is the good Lord. You can achieve an attractive and... more

Asymmetry before breast augmentation

Ideally, the left fold would be lowered 1/2 cm or so to approximate symmetry. However, this can lead to a double bubble deformity if done on the wrong patient. If the fold is constricted and very tight, it is not worth the risk. If your current fold has some mobility I would feel comfortable modifying it conservatively.

Implants and fold

I think it is better to do the augmentation, and accept mild asymmetry than lower the fold and risk a double bubble appearance. I concur with my colleagues.

Lowering the crease opens up new risks in breast augmentation

The likelihood is that lowering your left crease will not make your BA "match" perfectly but it WILL open up new potential problems like double bubble formation and bottoming out. Generally, unless the creases are of different heights on the chest wall, they are best left alone. You will need to accept some residual asymmetry with an augmentation or in 6 months consider something done on the right to tighten the skin if the lower pole there looks baggy compared to the... more

Skin Not Shaped Same, Will It Be Fixed After Surgery (BA)?

Thanks for the posted photo. Your inferior distant from the areolar to the infra mammary crease on the right appears longer. So do the augmentation and as Dr. Stratis states wait 6 months to determine if a secondary operation is needed.

Breast Asymmetry and Breast Augmentation

As best as can be determined by your one photo you have more breast skin below the nipple on the right than the left. The nipples are at the same position. I cannot see the fold on the right. I do have concerns that a simple breast aug will still have residual asymmetry. Although lowering the implant on the left can possibly help this can lead to a double bubble appearance if not done correctly. My suggestion would be to do the breast aug and wait 6 months to see what might need to be done... more
