Specific answers would be appreciated. Do you consider it safe to do liposuction on the spine, on the bursa of the joints, or just on fleshy areas? Are there fleshy areas that are danger zones?

What Sites Do You Specifically Avoid and Consider Danger Zones with Liposuction?
Liposuction should be used and confined to subcutaneous fatty deposits. The smaller the deposit, the less likely liposuction will be of value. Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of liposuction procedures each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

1) If there is a localized fat deposit, it can usually be treated with liposuction. What is true is that some areas (like the ankles) are a lot trickier than others. But this is just a matter of good technique. The areas you mention typically don't have a lot of fat over them.
2) Some areas (like under the buttocks) should be avoided not because they are dangerous, but because they can produce a bad cosmetic result (sagging buttocks, for example).
