Choosing the Right Silicone Implants Size

I'm having difficulty choosing between 250 cc moderate profile Silicone breast implants or 300 cc high profile Silicone breast implants. My biggest concern is having the implants sit too high and project too much, and feeling too large. I'm athletic, smaller framed, 5'5" and 115 lbs. Any suggestions?

Try them on

I use high profile implants on a regular basis but they are not for everyone. The first place to start is the base width of your natural breast. Once you have an idea of this you can look at the volumes that are appropriate for you in either profile. I feel that the moderate profile implants provide an overall more natural resul, especially in the more athletic patients. All in all your best path is to visit a board-certified plastic surgeon and actually size with the implants in a... more

In general, go smaller

I rarely use high profile implants. However, there should be a rationale for the implants you choose. I usually start with the diameter of the lowest profil implant that most comfortably fits your natural breast. Then you can vary the width and projection to get the look you want. In general, with saline implants, the smaller you go, the more natural they will feel. Of course what you finally decide on will depend a great deal on what you feel is natural or unnatural and what side effects... more

Diameter and projection.

You do have a small frame. I assume you tried the implants on by stuffing into a surgical bra and then a T-shirt. There is a difference, but only 50 cc's. You can check the chart by the manufacturer to see what the difference will be. Usually if one of my patients is trying to decide between two sizes only a small amount apart I will recommend the larger one. This is simply because if there is any regret after surgery it usually is that the patient wishes she should have gone bigger... more

Hi profiles will sit a little higher

Hello My experience with silicone implants is that there is less of a difference in the profile. That is, a high profile silicone implant sits "less proudly" than a high profile saline implant. That being said, there is not much difference between 250 cc and 300 cc. In terms of ounces, you are deciding between 8.3 ounces and 10 ounces. So the difference is 1.7 ounces (less than a 2 ounce shot drink). Your surgeon may be able to help you more and even let you look at samples of... more
