Breast Implants: Q&A

Ask a Question

Are High Profile Breast Implants Advisable for my Build?

I am 5'11, have a 37 in ribcage, B-cup size, and weigh 175 lbs. I was recommended a 550cc High Profile silicone breast implants but I wonder if going HP will make my breasts have a less natural-looking outcome. I originally wanted low profile but was recommended a high profile due to my size. In your opinion, is a natural look achievable given my build and is a high profile recommended? Thanks.

High Profile Breast Implants

It is really hard to tell you what would work without seeing you and examining you and taking measurements. In general, high profile implants appear larger give the same cc when compared to the lower profile implants because of the more projection. Also, HP implants look a bit more like you have implants rather than the lower, smoother profile implants. Good luck.

High profile implants

Without an exam it is very difficult to assess what would look right for you.  High profile implants are great for narrrow framed patients that want more projection.

High profile implants

It's all a matter of your dimensions. You're very tall and can carry larger implants but the profile is not what is going to make them look natural, it's the size. This implant will take you into the D cup range and although you may be looking for that, it probably will not look as natural on your body as you'd like in the long run. It's easirer to comment on than it is to see you in person and measure your dimensions, so hopefully you've been to a board certified plastic surgeon by the... more

I am afraid 550 cc high profile implants will look fake.

Hi! In New York, we think 550 cc breast implants are too big for almost everybody.  Very large implants age badly.  Around 400 cc's might be right. It's hard to be sure without examining you, but for your dimensions I would use moderate plus profile implants rather than high profile.

It depends on the kind of result you want

High profile implants create more volume and size than a moderate or moderate plus profile implant of the same width. These implants are useful when the patient wants to be as large as possible, and would like a lot of fullness over the upper part of the breast. This is more of a round appearance, and less like a natural breast. You are tall. Thus, you can probably take more volume than another woman who is shorter than you. However, the chances are that a 550 cc high profile implant on you... more

Should you get high profile implants?

I chose the implants based on the patient's desired outcome,by having them bring in pictures of how they hope to appear. I combine this with a series of measurements that allow me to tailor the implant selection to their body proportions. In general, the patients that end up having high profile implants, are usually somewhat petite, with a narrow frame and want a full projection ( i.e. they want to be fairly big), but they want to minimize how wide the implant projects past the side of the... more

High profile breast implants

Dear Vivian, As you have already figured out, high profile implants are thicker and narrower and give the breast more upper pole projection. Without knowing your exact breast measurements and seeing photos, it's hard to answer with complete certainty whether 550 cc high profile silicone implants will look natural. That being said, the larger the implant, the less natural it tends to look. 550 cc is a relatively large large implant, particularly when placed in a B-cup breast. If you... more

Natural look from high profile implants

The short answer is, not likely. High Profile implants were designed for two purpose: to create a very projecting breast with superior fullness (the "Bay Watch" look) and to get a larger implant--thus more volume in the breast pocket of a patient with a narrower chest wall. The larger the implant, and the higher the profile, the less natural appearance you will obtain in general. Obviously, having a trained plastic surgeon help fit you with the appropriate implant is the key. You... more
