Should I cut my hair shorter as I age?

Rapunzel - Cut or Not
Age is not the reason to do anything you don't want to. However, a changing face shape, eye colour, hair texture and sagging muscles ARE the reasons to consider cutting your hair - or not.
Only consult a hairstylist you are confident in and have had some success over time with - this is not the time to trust somebody brand new.
There are an array of styling aids, extensions and pieces and thickeners to add to our artillery of tools that can enhance hair at any age and in any shape. Try on wigs and see what feels and looks good (remembering they are often thicker than your own hair, so take that into consideration).
So, the better questions to ask and consider are what makes you feel good, how easy is the style and length to maintain, and how appropriate is the style for your face and body shape, texture and thickness? And take note when you receive compliments from family, friends and co-workers; that will tell you better than anything what looks best for you.
Ugh! Don't do it! I mean, when women are in the inevitable throes of dealing with a bit of sag and a few lines here and there why would you act like some robotron and chop off your locks?
Look at these gorgeous over-45 women who still have long hair and look hot! Sharon Stone (depending on what day it is), Goldie Hawn, Jane Seymoure and the inimitable Catherine Deneuve. The key is to be yourself. Wear the style that suits you. Experiment if you like, but don't go all Judy Dench just because you're feeling a few hot flashes.
As you age, you'll want to talk with your hairstylist about products and even vitamin supplements you can take to promote healthy hair. Nioxin has great products for stimulating the scalp and promoting hair growth. A good conditioner and regular trims will keep your locks looking great, no matter what your age.
