You should change your moisturizers with the seasons. Autumn you will feel drier; just look at nature around you. Leaves dry out and fall.

The Spring sees a break out of skin problems, pimples, rashes, eczema. This is a good time to lighten your diet after the heavy, damp winter foods and weather, which can congest the skin, lungs and colon.

Protect your skin throughout the year with SPF, minimum of 15, and higher during the Summer months. Protect the delicate décolletage area with scarves or neckline clothing. This area can get so dehydrated and will age very quickly as there is such little skin tissue here.

I think in the UK we have a perfect climate for good skin as we have seasons. We are rarely too hot or too cold for too long. The rain is another matter!

If you are on the coast and like to walk, do try and have a light scarf over your face on very cold, windy days so as not to get that “ruddy” weather-beaten look.

Living in NYC can really bring your skin down not to mention your morale but, that’s a whole different topic. I recommend products according to the region and I divide them in two: Humid and dry climates.

Summer or Humid Climates

  • Lightweight moisturizer
  • Facial scrub twice a week
  • Clay mask weekly
  • Exfoliating gel nightly

The humidity is high as well as the pollutants, dirt, and other environmental skin hazards. Let’s not forget the smells in the subway!

Winter or Dry Climate:

  • Heavier moisturizer
  • Toner (hydrates and locks moisture)
  • Hydrating mask and facial scrub to use weekly
  • Topical vitamins help to hydrate and nourish skin during the dry seasons and does damage control accumulated from the summer
