Severe Pigmentation After Laser

I performed fractional laser to my back & shoulders to treat acne scars and spots, my skin was severly damaged and dark pigmentation appeared on the spots due to burns. which i think dr performed in wrong way. the laser traces are still shown in my skin. Dr prescribed Dermamelan cream which he claimed that it will remove those pegmented spots. which i doubt as the spots are very dark compared to my fair skin. I am thinking about chemical peeling but afraid to end up with worse condition.
