Scarring on White of the Eye?

Four months ago I had a brown spot removed from the white of the eye. My eye now has a red line in it where the excision was made, with blood vessels extending towards it. It has gotten better with time. However, I find myself crying almost every night worrying that this is a scar. There's nothing I want more than for my eye to just look normal again. Is this possible? Will the redness ever fade? How many months may it take?
