How can I remove the "marble like" scar tissue inside my cheek after numerous periodontal surgeries?

After numerous surgeries (and complications) to repair a hole in my gum (after an implant) discovered by my dentist, I am now left with what my periodontist thinks is scar tissue which feel like a small marble in my cheek. I can feel it especially when I smile and eat and it's very uncomfortable for me. Plus, I can't help but putting my tongue back there to feel the bump. The first thing I asked my periodontist was how do I get rid of it. He said he could make a small incision to attempt to remove the excess scar tissue, however, he's giving me a month to try and get used to it as he feels that doing this could open another can of worms or create another kind of problem. I don't think I can or want to get used to it as is. It does not affect the way I look, but it makes me feel a bit deformed and I am very conscious of it. I'm hoping that it might shrink a little in a month's time, but if not, I can't see getting used to this. On the other hand, I feel paranoid now about my periodontist attempting to remove the scar tissue. I'd appreciate any feedback or if there is any other method to reduce scar tissue that has remained in my cheek (right across from my gum). Thank you.
