Doctor for Scar Tissue Removal in the Lips?

Eight months ago, my lips were injected with Juvederm. It was hideous. There was a bump on my lip too. I have since had hyaluronidaise injections and the product is gone, but the bump is still there. On the surface, it looks like skin that was once stretched out, and when I press, I feel a hard lump inside. Cortisone injections didnt work either. I did a research online and came to know of people who have had this fixed.

Is there any doctor who specializes in this? I want to have my lips back to normal. Location isn't an issue, and I'm willing to travel. Thanks.

Hi Loress654

I am responding to your email request. I don't know who injected you, but you seem to have a really bad, if unusual outcome, and I am sorry to hear that. As I understand it, the Juvederm effect is gone, and you have had steroid injection (at least one). With only that information, I would make this recommendation. Seek a board certified plastic surgeon. If your doctor is one, get a second opinion. I would avoid steroid shots until then, because too much steroid can "melt"... more

Lower lip mass

The lower lip swelling or mass may be scar tissue from previous injections.  Even possible is a small cyst. The only way to tell is to be examined. If this is the case, the best way to treat it is by excising it.

Mass of lower lip following Juvederm injection

Granulomas with hyaluronic fillers are extremely uncommon and very rare. In most instances you r scar tissue or fibrosis should resolve with time and massage or steroid injections. If this does not improve any plastic surgeon or ENT physician should be competent to remove the mass. There may be some other process going on such as a mucocoele or other mass that may warrant a biopsy and histologic evaluation.
