If I was told my incisions were too tight and I need a scar revision. How is that procedure done? Could it make it worse? The incisions were from a breast augmentation in the inframamary fold.

Scars post abdominoplasty
Not sure what you mean by the scars are too tight. for a scar that is not ideal the options are a revision. actually cutting out the scar and revising it. the other option is a non ablative laser treatment to improve the scar. which one I would pick would depend on the appearance of the scar.

Breast augment scar revision
A scar revision entails excision of the existing scars and replacement with a new scar. This is generally performed for a hypertrophic or otherwise unsightly scar. A photograph would certainly help here. If your breast pockets were too tight and needed revision, then this would not be a scar revision per se but a revision of the augmentation performed through the same incision. A scar revision usually removes skin, as the earlier scar is excised in an ellipse, so I am unsure of how this...

Scar revision is an office procedure
Hi Christie!
Yes, sometimes the skin closure can be tight following breast augmentation, especially with larger implants. Scar revision can usually help--as long as several months have past between the initial surgery and the scar revision procedure. It's basically an office procedure under local anesthesia and usually takes 30 minutes or so. In the hands of a plastic surgeon, it would be unusual for the scars to be worse. Good luck!

Tight scars after breast augmentation
Thank you for your question.
I'm not sure if your surgeon is referring to the incision scars or the capsule around the implant. Most incision scars soften over time.
It is important to discuss the details specifically with your surgeon so that you understand what he/she is going to do. For instance, how long ago was your augmentation? This may be something that will improve with time.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more help to you with the limited information I have.

Scar revision vs. release of Capsule
Hi there-
I'm not sure if you mean that your skin scar doesn't look as good as you or your surgeon believe it could, or if you mean that your implants have gotten tight...
I would review this with your surgeon for a better understanding of what exactly is going on and what needs to be done about it...

A scar is not a scar, is not a scar
Christie,
From your description it sounds like your surgeon means the scar around your implant is too tight and needs to be released. This is different from revising the scar on your skin. Confirm with your surgeon which is the case. Good luck!

"Tight" scar after breast augmentation?
I'm going to take a wild guess that your breast augmentation revision is not for revision of the inframammary scars, but rather for "tightness" in the scar capsules around your breast implants. Revision of the skin incisions would be done for excessive width, irregularity, cross-hatch marks, indentation, etc., but usually not for "tightness."
However, the scar around your breast implants (capsule) can tighten or contract, causing firmness or distortion, and may...

Scar revision of breast
Scar revision is generally the surgical improvement of the appearance and/or functional effects of a scar. Typically this involves it excision and meticulous closure of the wound. This does not quite sound like your situation. It is unclear what you mean by a "tight" scar. Photos would be helpful.
If you have some contour irregularity or constriction, then a contouring procedure can be performed but this is not a scar revision. You may want some clarification from your...

Scar revision after breast augmentation
Scar revision is a procedure to improve the form (diminish visibility of) or treat functional impairment related to your scar. Internal scar revision (or scar removal) may be performed for capsular contracture. Am skeptical of the description "incisions too tight". Can provide more useful information if you submit a picture or two and further explain the indications your surgeon offers for proposed scar revision.
