Can I Have Scar Revision Surgey? And Would my Insurance Cover It?

When I was 11 I got hit by a car and it broke my tiba amd tore my mcl. My orthopedist fixed my tiba with a scope but cut the inside of my knee to fix my mcl. I had a second surgey to remove scar tissue, and my insurance covered it. Im almost 16 and the scar is starting to bother me, and im wondering if surgey would make my scar less noticable and a little less uncomfortable

Surgical scar revision in Los Angeles

Functional scar revision surgery is often covered by insurance. Cosmetic scar revision is not. Begin with a consultation to discuss your options.

Scar revision around the knee and over the tibia

Thank you for the question, I would be difficult to say if scar revision would help without photos and more importantly seeing you in person. In general, scar removal or revision creates another scar. I suggest you get a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to address your concern.

Scar Revision and Insurance Coverage

You seem to be a candidate for scar revision. Insurance coverage depends on your insurance company. Consult with 3 - 4 board certified plastic surgeons within your network to explore your options.
