Will Hypopigmented Scars Shrink As They Heal?
My two-year old recently received 6 stitches on her forehead for a laceration. 10 days later the scab is falling off. The white scar beneath is much wider than expected and longer than the cut itself. What determines the width of the scar? Will the 'white area' decrease in size as it heals or is this basically the length/width of the final scar? Thanks.

Scars on Children
Since your daughter is young her skin is constantly regrowing and the scar will shrink.
Make sure she puts on sunscreen every time she goes outside because the sun will only make the scar more visible and more permanent. Keep the scar out of the sun and time will take care of the rest.
