If my math is correct, i have roughly 2000 CC's of fat tissue in my breasts. Is wanting to get 1000 CC's removed reasonable? How much would you recommend i have removed? I am 5'0 and 140 pounds. I really want a doctors opinion on this.
Answer: How many CC's of fat is reasonable and should I remove? Thank you for the question. Based on your brief description, it is likely that you will do well with breast reduction surgery; this operation, is one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. Most patients undergoing breast reduction surgery wish to achieve enough of a reduction to help with their symptoms while remaining proportionate with the remainder of their torso. With the goal of improving communication with my patients (determining their goals in regards to breast size after breast reduction surgery) I find the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “C or D cup” or " proportionate” etc. mean different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Key to success: select your plastic surgeon carefully and communicate your goals carefully as well. Again, in my opinion, the use of as many visual aids as possible is helpful. Only after this consultation process will you be able to get a idea of how weight will be removed with the breast reduction procedure. I hope this, and the attached link, helps.

Answer: How much to remove in a breast reduction Unfortunately math won't help. You need to be seen in person to be able to evaluate you. The nipple blood supply needs to be saved and the shape of the breast after reduction needs to be considered. Picking a number alone will not be useful unless you are seen in person by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Below is a result on a patient who did have close to 1000 grams removed on each side. Best,

Answer: How many CC's of fat is reasonable and should I remove? Very good. I've been doing breast surgery for over 30 years and I couldn't tell you how much fat is in your breast. You do understand it's not a lake of fat and it is mottled with fibrous breast tissue, right? You also understand if you just remove fat you give up the ability to shape the breast and you leave the skin loose and saggy? Maybe it's time to actually see an expert and get some good advice.
