Breast feeding with implants--safety advice.

Neither type of breast implants (silicone or saline) should have any effect on ability to breast feed, or cause any change in the quality or safety of the breast milk. This has been looked into exhaustively (as related to silicone breast implants--1999 study by US Dept of Health and Human Services, Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences) and the conclusion was that "evidence for health effects in children related to maternal breast implants is insufficient or flawed... more

No risk to breast implants for those breast feeding

It does not matter if your implants are silicone or saline, under or over the muscle, there are no risks to you or your implants, or other safety concerns while breast feeding. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd

Hello, There are no safety issues associtated with breast feeding and the presence of breast implants, regardless of implant type (saline or silicone) or their integrity (ruptured or intact). You may safely breastfeed your child. Enjoy!
