Safe melasma treatment DURING pregnancy?

It isn’t totally clear what causes Melasma. Estrogen and progesterone sensitivity usually are associated with this condition. Birth control pills, pregnancy, and hormone therapy can all help trigger melasma. Some topical products we have found safe to use during pregnancy are Vitamin-C, Azelaic Acid, Lytera 2.0, and physical sunscreen.

1.       Vitamin C is used in skin care as a strong antioxidant, especially in regard to protecting the skin from sun damage. It strengthens the skin barrier and thickens the dermis. It can expedite the healing of wounds and reduce inflammation. In high concentrations, it can reduce the appearance of skin discoloration. Most important, it promotes collagen production.

2.       Azelaic Acid is a brightening component found in grains like wheat, rye and barley. It leaves your normally pigmented skin alone while targeting abnormal melanocytes, helping treat hyper-pigmentation.

Lytera 2.0: Contains Tranexamic Acid to help correct the appearance of hyperpigmentation.
Physical Sunscreen: Offers protection against both UVA and UVB rays and is naturally broad spectrum
