I have had a double chin for the longest time due to a weak chin. More recently I have corrected life-long poor posture which has tilted by head down further creating more of a double chin. While I do have fat and some loose skin in the neck area, I do not want to do a chin implant or a chin implant + neck lift. Could a sliding genioplasty on its own possibly fix my double chin? If not, are there surgeons that perform both a sliding genioplasty (not implant) and liposuction of the neck area?
Answer: Cost of a chin implant? Cost factors vary significantly for a number of good reasons: Prices vary greatly because the surgery itself encompasses a wide range of techniques that can be performed to different extents. My recommendation is to first find the most qualified surgeons where you want the surgery performed that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery you trust, then compare prices between them. See the below link on suggestions on how to find the most qualified plastic surgeon for your procedure. General Factors that influence the price of plastic surgery include: 1. Location - Will it be performed in a hospital with an overnight stay, an independent out- patient facility or a doctor’s office? Geographical location also has a significant influence. RealSelf has average charges for most areas of the USA. 2. Type of Anesthesia - local, IV sedation or General Anesthesia? Will a board certified anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, or an RN be used? 3. Experience and training of your surgeon. The best and longest trained is most often a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery 4. Length and Complexity of Surgery - how difficult will your surgery be and how long it will take, etc. Will other complementary procedures also be also performed during the same surgery?

Answer: Jaw Probably the best option is jaw advancement and then liposuction IF needed. I do see the chin point to being behind where it should be.

Answer: Sliding Genioplasty for Double Chin While sliding genioplasty may help your double is not the main answer. You would primarily benefit from removal of some fat from your neck under direct vision to sculpt the neck. A sliding genioplasty will add to the success of the operation but on your case will not be my preferred fist choice.

Answer: Chin implant and neck lift for removal of double chin The photographs demonstrate a weak chin profile and fatty deposits in the neck. The week chin profile is due to underdevelopment of the bony mandible, for which a chin implant can give added projection to the chin to improve facial balance and proportions. The fatty deposits in the neck are located above and below the platysma muscle, so a neck lift is required to remove those fatty deposits. A platysma-plasty is also performed at the same time give a better jaw and neck line definition. A chin implant and neck lift is performed under a brief general anesthetic as an outpatient surgical procedure. A sliding genioplasty involves making cuts in the mandible bone and setting it forward with plates and screws, and this performed as an inpatient procedure a hospital with an overnight stay by an oral surgeon. A sliding genioplasty will not have any effect on the fatty deposits in the neck.

Answer: Sliding Genioplasty and Submentoplasty For your double chin a sliding genioplasty would certainly be a more helpful chin augmentation technqiue than a chin implant as it stretches out the neck tissues in the submental area. If combined with a submentoplasty to remove fat both above and below the plastysmal muscle with muscle tightening, you will get the best result possible short of a more complete neck lift.
