First, it is important to have these spots evaluated by a dermatologist to ensure they are benign solar lentigos or seborrheic keratotses.  Following this, there are many treatment options available.  A topical lightening cream, such as Lytera, in combination with a retinol is very effective for reducing the appearance of brown spots.  Chemical peels can also hasten the treatment of these annoying spots.  Liquid nitrogen can also be used to remove age spots.  However, your dermatologist may perform a test spot first to determine how your skin responds before treating multiple lesions.  There are also laser treatments available.  Your skin care provider can evaluate your skin and, together, you can determine the best treatment plan to meet your needs and skin type.

The Q-switched ruby laser or Alexandrite laser removes brown spots. There is a very low risk of scarring. If you not good about sun protection the spots  will come back
