If the nose is not broken and the work is concentrated in the tip, does this reduce recovery time of Rhinoplasty?

Tip plasty has much less bruising and swelling vs. a full rhinoplasty.

Tip plasty has much less bruising and swelling vs. a full rhinoplasty. Most patients can go back to work in 2 days after surgery if done closed or, in 5 days if performed open.

The amount of bruising and overall swelling will be less with a tipplasty than with a complete rhinoplasty.  Closed approach will also significantly reduce recovery time and swelling.  In addition, you will have not visible scars.

Non fracture rhinoplasty

+1
Absolutely.  In my practice, we emphasize the open non fracture technique and find that recovery is significantly shortened.  Of course the tip of the nose will be firm and somewhat swollen for up to several months.  The amount of swelling varies a great deal but usually is significantly resolved in about 6 weeks.

Swelling from a tip rhinoplasty

The tip of the nose status full longest period of time when a tip rhinoplasty was performed. Swelling from the bridge of the nose dissipates rapidly, however the tip takes of one year to see the final result. For many examples, please see the link below to our rhinoplasty photos gallery

Typically, a tipplasty will have a shorter recovery than a rhinoplasty where the bones need to be broken.  Swelling and bruising will also be lessened.

Tip plasty recovery time

+1
Tip plasty as opposed to a complete rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty will tend to be shorter. This is a much lower risk of bruising in the undereye area as well. However, the part of rhinoplasty that takes the longest time to heal is swelling and refinement of the tip. This would likely not be much shorter than the recovery following a more extensive rhinoplasty surgery. Much of the swelling is gone by three months but it can take one year for complete recovery. I hope this information is helpful for you.

If I only need work on the tip does it lessen the recovery time?

+1
  • If you only need a tip rhinoplasty your recovery time and discomfort can be reduced. Your restrictions however in terms of exercise and activity level will most likely remain the same. This is to avoid any accumulation of blood in the space where the surgery has been performed. You will need to discuss with your plastic surgeon his exact recommendations in terms of what  postoperative protocol he recommends
