How to Fix Nose with Swelling in the Middle? (photo)

I am soon to be hitting 40, have a "virgin" nose & yet to have the jobs done (like wrinkle busters u see so clearly). But my main concern is the thingy in the middle of my face. It gets that big during the allergy season (which is often here, in CA). I can't even let glasses to touch the bridge of my nose - gives me motion sick-like sensation. At first I was considering just the tip done, but that thing is surely expanding everywhere. Is it possible to make it fit my face better?

Nasal harmony

The beauty of consulting with rhinoplasty docs is that they have imaging software to walk you through potential changes, and how those changes fit together to give you a balanced, natural nose. Technically there are multiple steps to narrow the tip, middle third of the nose, or nasal bones, so the surgical technique is not necessarily at question. The bottom line is you should work with your surgeon to specifically detail the changes you would like to see, as well as discuss the degree of... more

Rhinoplasty and Somnoplasty of the Inferior Nasal Turbinates

Hi Nosik, Physical examination of your nose at the time of consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon will reveal the anatomic causes of your concerns. Certainly your concerns may be addressed with rhinoplasty. Your tip can be defined and your nasal bones slightly narrowed. As for your allergies, make sure that the physician carefully evaluates your inferior nasal turbinates which can be treated with Somnoplasty to improved your breathing, allergic symptoms, and possibly the swelling with... more

Rhinoplasty to narrow middle of nose

This is a straightforward rhinoplasty whereby both nasal bones need to be narrowed at the mid third vault of the nose through medial and lateral osteotomies.  This can be done through a closed rhinoplasty approach and does not need to be done through an open approach.  From the looks of the picture, it does not appear that much tip work needs to be done, if any.

Intermittant Nasal Swelling

Intermittant swelling  may be caused by allergies or recurrent sinus infections. See an experienced nasal surgeon for an accurate diagnosis. Rhinoplasty surgery will improve nasal appearance and function if you have airway obstruction. Allergy evaluation and possible treatment should be considered.

Rhinoplasty, Nose surgery

If your nose swells up because of allegies, it will still swell up after a rhinoplasty. In fact, it may swell up more because of scarring. Rhinoplasty is done to balance the face and "hide" the nose in the face. It is difficult to tell on a front view whether you would gain much benefit from nasal surgery. Go see a competent plastic surgeon and see what he says.

Problems with nasal width

If you are unhappy with the width of your nose, certainly a rhinoplasty can be performed to narrow it a bit and give you the look and shape that you want.

Rhinoplasty for swelling of the nose in the middle.

See an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who can give you a better answer after examining your nose. Allergic swelling with poor airway can be improved by surgery for your turbinates if he feels this is the problem. The cosmetic part is done at the same time so pick a surgeon that makes natural noses.
