Can SUBCUTANEOUS (no cutaneous scarring present) scar revision be performed in the dorsal and/or supratip region of the nose?
The reason for this question is that I've been told by my M.D. that subcutaneous scarring, after numerous (a total of 4) Rhinoplasties, is the probable cause behind the fluctuating swelling in my nose (even after 5 years).Thanks ever so much for your help! Nordic

Hi Nordic, I am sorry that you have gone through so much with your nose. All bets are off after 5 nasal surgical procedures. You may need nasal reconstruction of the dorsal and supra-tip skin with a transposition graft. If you can live with the swelling, then I would recommend leaving... more
Scar tissue under the skin can be excised if there is enough thickness of the overlying skin. However, you should see a revision Rhinoplasty specialist to determine if this is likely to solve your problem. This should be someone with a great deal of experience.
With each Rhinoplasty, the scarring can get worse and last for longer periods of time. A fourth time Rhinoplasty can have residual scarring, that makes the tip swollen for very long periods of time. Furthermore, any effort to operate on this tissue can leave you looking like Michael Jackson.
