Hello, I am trying to find a plastic surgeon in Nashville, TN for rhinoplasty. I found one in Brentwood, and had a really good connection with him, but then I found a few reviews online that said he was horrible and he "botched" up patients' faces and that he pretended to care, but really just wanted more money. Do I believe these reviews? Also do you think he chooses open rhinoplasty because he gets more money because it takes longer?

Look for a rhinoplasty surgeon who has performed thousands of rhinoplasties and has many before and after photos to show. Ratings and reviews of the surgeon are useful, but it is important to remember that the percentage of happy patients is never 100% for any surgeon. There are many successful rhinoplasty surgeons that perform closed rhinoplasty as well as open rhinoplasty so this is more of a surgeon’s choice than it is what type of result the patients will receive.   more

Online Physician Reviews

It is difficult to evaluate anonymous online reviews of a rhinoplasty surgeon. A bad review may be credible, but it could have been submitted by a competitor. Ask other physicians you know about this surgeon and check with the state medical board about this doctor. It is good for you to do your homework, but I suggest you get a second opinion.  Your relationship with him sounds a little rocky - you are even questioning his motivation for recommending an open rhinoplasty. more

I agree with Dr. Wallach.  A few negative reviews out of thousands of happy patients will create the wrong impression.  In addition, some use the threat of a negative review to ask for their money back.  Some of the best rhinoplasty surgeons - doctors who I would take my family to - have negative reviews - why? Believing Rhinoplasty Reviews

If you felt good about a particular Surgeon, ask to speak to a few of his/her patients in addition to looking at postoperative results.  Regarding on-line reviews: there isn't a Surgeon who hasn't made at least one patient unhappy and unhappy patients tend to be much more vocal than happy ones. .Reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt.  The negative review may be one person in thousand.s  More than likely an upset person would write a negative review than a happy patient would right any review.  Tough call, but ask around and look at results.
