Is it important to reduce swelling after Rhinoplasty?

Is it necessary to do something about swelling after Rhinoplasty, or is it just something doctors say to do so you don't look puffy? I had it done a few days ago, and I hate icing my face. My arm, shoulder, and neck gets tired and achy from holding the ice up all the time. Can't I just forget the ice and watch TV and let the thing swell? I mean it's going to go down eventually anyway, right?

 We only have patients ice for 24-36 hours. After that it is a waste of time. Give your arms a well deserved rest for now.
