It has been 2 months since my Rhinoplasty surgery and my nose is still very swollen. Not only that, the more swollen and deformed my nose looks, the more deformed my face structure gets. When the sides of my nose flattens my whole face gets long, droopy, and flabby. I used to have very visible cheekbones but they are totally gone. My whole face structure, including my eyes have changed. On rare occasions, when my nose looks good, thinner, and refined (how it should be), my face is back to normal. But that's not often enough. The week after the surgery, when the nurse took off the cast, I looked great--it was my face with a beautiful nose. But a couple of hours later, it widened, swelled, got upturned and totally deformed. It pretty much stayed like that these past two months.I look like a different person and i cant take it anymore. All i wanted was a nice nose not a nasty face. When will the swelling or whatever it is that is deforming my nose and face heal? How much longer do i have to deal with this?

Hi LaTonya,
Don't worry. It is normal for the nose to appear "narrow" when the cast is first removed. The nose under the splint has had pressure on it while the areas outside of the splint have increased swelling.
Once the splint is removed, it only takes a few hours for the swelling...
The squishiness in the nose is lymphatic fluid and edema that has just not progressed outwards out of the tip yet and may take a full year to finally work its way out. A low-salt diet and sometimes some cortisone injections into the tip can help with this in the interim.
