Revision After 10 Years

My tip was done in 2001 by a family member doc, at the encouragement of my mother. I was never happy with the result, but now it bothers me terribly. It seems to be changing with age. There is "scar tissue" on the side. I don't want to insult the family member by asking for a change, and I am scared to death to let anyone touch my formerly adorable, feminine nose that has been androgynized and botched.

Revision rhinoplasty can be done 10 years after surgery

I've seen many patients in your situation: your early on rhinoplasty result continued to change over the years (often due to the scar contracture process) and now you're even less satisfied with it. Ten years isn't too long to have waited before looking into having a revision surgery. I would recommend consulting with a few board certified facial plastic surgeons or plastic surgeons who have extensive revision rhinoplasty experience to see how they think your nose can be... more

Nasal Revision after 10 Years

There is absolutely no reason to be embarrassed about not liking your nose - it is your face. Consult with a surgeon experienced in revision rhinoplasty which will be more difficult than the original operation. In the right hands, you will be able to achieve a natural, aesthetically pleasing result. Your anxiety is normal; whenever I see patients dissatisfied with their oiginal result, they are always anxious and skeptical. At least inquire about your options. If you want, send pictures... more

Lots of Folks Have Revision Rhinoplasty After 10 Years. Why Not You?

You need to do more research

Its your nose and you should not feel shy or embarassed when it comes to dealing with your family or family member doctor.  If he did not do a good job the first time then he will likely not be able to do a good job with a revision which is usually more complicated.  See a few good rhinoplasty specialists and see what they say.  be cautious and do lots of homework.
