If a tissue expander is required for scalp reconstruction it is highly unlikely to result in excess scalp

If a tissue expander is required for scalp reconstruction it is highly unlikely to result in excess scalp. Almost as a rule there is never excess scalp even with multiple tissue expanders in place. In the event that there was excess scalp tissue it can always be removed as a secondary procedure and is straight-forward. This option is much more desirable than inadequate scalp tissue and a failed reconstruction. Stephen Weber, M.D., Ph.D. Facial Plastic Surgeon more

Repeated tissue expansion will not create more flexibility of the scalp.

Repeated tissue expansion will not create more flexibility of the scalp. In more than 30 years of using scalp tissue expansion this does not happen.
