Reoccurring Benign Lipoma, Any Advice?

Hi - I am 27, male, and in decent shape. I have had a lipoma removed from my chest and 2 from my lower back (left and right), one of which was intramuscular. After removal, my lower back felt great- had assumed that I was getting older and that lower back pain was a fact of life. The intramuscular site developed another lipoma about 10 months later, which I had removed. Now, 10 months later the back pain is back and I can feel something at the site again. Any advice? (clean path reports)

Lipoma recurrence

Assuming complete removal and pathology which so indicates, you could be forming a new lipoma adjacent to the surgical site. I have many patients who have the propensity to form new lipomata. Because it is on your back which is difficult for you to see, I recommend that you seek a consultation to determine whether what you are feeling is a new lesion or has another underlying causation, such as scar hypertrophy. Best of luck.

Lipoma

The main reason for recurence of lipoma is inadequate removal, provided the pathology report is non malignant.
