Hi! I have always wondered if this was possible. I recognize that it is not a huge problem, but I do carry the judgement that removing the extra fat would improve my appearance. I am Hispanic, and I am aware that this extra fold is not uncommon within my population. I seek to remove this extra fold to create a sleeker look, especially because the extra fold creates a bored-looking expression.I appreciate your time. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!
Answer: Is it possible to remove an extra eyelid crease? (Photo) It is possible to improve the cosmetic appearance of the upper lids that concern you. There are a number of options available.Following the advice of anyone who would presume to tell you exactly what to do based on limited 2 dimensional photos and without taking a full medical history, examining you, feeling and assessing your tissue tone, discussing your desired outcome and fully informing you about the pros and cons of each option would not be in your best interest. Find a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable with and one that you trust and listen to his or her advice. The surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Filler/fat for loose upper eyelid skin The likely reason for the extra fold is actuall hollowness of the area. Imagine letting the air out of a balloon; that results in the deflation and collapse of the balloon. Similarly, fat going away from the face and eyes can cause deflation and extra folds. By filling the area, either with fat or filler, it can stretch the loose skin. Simply removing the loose skin will result in un-natural, more hollow, appearance. See an oculoplastic surgeon.

Answer: There is no extra fat here to be removed! Removing the extra fold is straight forward. However, it would be a disservice to do this without evaluating the totality of your eyelid issues. On the left side you have a mild upper eyelid ptosis and lash ptosis. A microblepharoplasty with anchor fixation of the upper eyelid platform would provide support for the upper eyelashes so they don't hang down. A ptosis correction may be appropriate at the same time. These procedures will give you a bright eyed look. It is also important to consider what is going on with the right eyelids.

Answer: Extra Eyelid Crease Thank you for the question and your photo. Yes, it is definitely possible to remove an extra eyelid crease. Though an in-person exam is necessary to determine the exact approach, this extra crease is often just skin. It can be removed with local anesthesia and closed with tiny sutures. Best of luck moving forward!

Answer: Removal of Extra Eyelid Crease It is possible to remove the extra skin fold on your left upper eyelid and do so to improve the lateral hooding. However, this will need to be done bilaterally in order to achieve symmetry. By the way forget about ptosis surgery as this is much over diagnosed.
