Possible to Remove Dorsal Hump with Only One Procedure?

I want to remove the dorsal hump on my nose. Would I need more than one procedure? How cost effective is it going to be?

Dorsal hump is removed during rhinoplasty

Typically when a dorsal hump is removed patients need osteotomies to narrow the nasal bones, otherwise they will have an open roof deformity. This is all done during one rhinoplasty. Anytime you are undergoing a rhinoplasty there is at least a 10% chance that you will require a touchup procedure approximately six months to a year down the road in case any small irregularities show up that need to be addressed. The approximate cost for the procedure is $6,000.00, which includes the... more

Nasal surgery

Yes, the dorsal hump is removed during a rhinoplasty. This is one of the main things that is done. It may unusually "regrow" or scar tissue may form but that happens in the minority of cases. I would check out the video of me doing a nose procedure.

Dorsal Hump Removal

A dorsal hump is removed in one procedure. Approach your consultation with an open mind and consider any other recommended changes so you end up with a great proportional result. In general, changing 2 or 3 things does not cost more.

Removing a Prominent Nose Hump = One Operation

Removing a prominent nose hump is done in a single Rhinoplasty operation which in most cases requires breaking the sides of the nose to narrow and close the open roof left by the hump removal. In your case, you may benefit from refining the tip of the nose and of the upper lateral cartilages giving the middle and lower third of the nose a more refined appearance.

Dorsal hump removal in one procedure

Removal of the dorsal hump can usually be completed in one procedure. Oftentimes it is best to make a few other changes to refine the nose overall to fit your face. However, these changes are always designed with your input in mind and this would be something best discussed with a trusted plastic surgeon.

Dorsal (bump) reduction is part of rhinoplasty procedure

The different parts of a rhinoplasty procedure include techniques to address breathing issues, the shape of the nasal tip and the nasal bridge. Generally speaking lowering the bump or dorsum of the nose can be completed with a single rhinoplasty procedure.

Nasal hump and bump procedure in one stage.

General speaking, a hump removal procedure should be able to be accomplished in a single surgical procedure.

Rhinoplasty Dorsal Hump Removal and Revison Rhinoplasty Rates

Hi Jen, You can have your dorsal hump removed in one rhinoplasty procedure.  There are many factors involved in a rhinoplasty and in the healing afterwards.  Even in the hands of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world, the revision rate varies from 3 to 10 percent.  Do not trust a surgeon who promises you one surgery and guarantees that there will not be need for revision surgery.  Cost effective is relative.  It is your nose in the middle of... more

Rhinoplasty with hump removal is a single procedure

A prominent nasal hump is the most common reason for patients to request rhinoplasty. Hump reduction and whatever else needed for a great result is included in the rhinoplasty procedure as a single operation and recovery. Best of luck, peterejohnsonmd

Dorsal hump and everything else on the nose in one procedure

The procedure called a rhinoplasty should address all the issues you have with your nose in one sitting to correct any abnormalities or areas that are bothersome.  Now there are some things that may not be able to be fixed and your surgeon should make you aware of that.  If you have very thick skin your result may not be as defined as someone with thin skin.  It woould have been better to send us a side view as well to evaluate the bump.  You certainly can have all this... more

Rhinoplasty, including hump removal is performed in one surgical procedure.

Most patients who come in for rhinoplasty have at lease a small amount of hump removed from their nose. Sometimes we do add to treat an over-operated or naturally scooped nose. The key to a nose is balance so when a hump is removed the tip often needs some work to maintain a balanced natural result. You should seek out an experienced rhinoplasty specialist. Nasal surgery should be about quality since this is the nose you want to have for the rest of your life.

Profile reduction

Profile reduction is typically done in 1 surgery. I am not sure why there would be a need to stage this type of procedure. Profile reduction involves removing bone and cartilage that is too tall. Typically half the bump is bone and the other half is cartilage from your septum and upper canopy cartilages. Profile reduction can be done without secondary bone breaks along the side of the nose if the bump is only 1-2 mm high. If more than that, light breaks would have to be done in order to... more

Hump removal with one rhinoplasty.

Yes, it should only take one procedure to remove the hump and do whatever else is needed to the nose. It would greatly improve your appearance and be cost effective if you go to an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon.

Only one surgery

Your goals should be met with only one surgery.  There is always a small chance a touch up may need to be done due to the way your nose heals but the vast majority of patients get the nose they want with only one surgery  - as long as you choose your surgeon carefully.
