How Do You Diminish a Bruise Scar Caused by Infiltration of Fistula from Dialysis?

I have lupus and was on dialysis for a year. My fistula was infiltrated once which left a huge bruise. I have a dark brown/gray discoloration from the bruise. Its been a year. Also, I bruise very easily have have bruise scars all over my leg. Before seeking professional help I would like to try home remedy, skin lightening??? or over the counter methods first? Can you recommend some please? If not what professional treatment will help. I am very embarassed to wear short sleeves or shorts.
