Can Reducing Breast Tissue Before Implants Have Long-term Effects?

I have one slightly larger than the other and my MD recommended removing some tissue from the larger one to even it out. I am not totally convinced. I just dont want the removal of that tissue to be an issue years down the line. I am also having a benelli lift with a saline 250 implant.

Improving symmetry at the time of breast augmentation
Hi there-
I would absolutely agree with your surgeon, and in fact do exactly what he/she is recommending for you often.
There should be no reason to worry about long term problems or issues resulting from this approach.

Implants and asymmetric breasts
There are several ways to go with the difference in volume. If you just want to be a bit bigger on the smaller breast, you may want to go with an implant on the left, you can go with implants in both with a larger one in the smaller breast, or you can remove some tissue in the larger breast to match the two.

Reducing breast tissue before implants and long-term effects
Sounds like you need correction of asymmetry. I would try and combine reduction on one with an expender implant on the smaller. Photos would help. I'm also in MIAMI, please call to see me, if you'd like.

Reduction of larger breast vs different size implants in breast asymmetry
I believe your doctor's plan is sound and will reduce the chance of redo surgery in the future.
Different size saline implants are not ideal for correcting differences in breast size; silicone gel implants more closely mimic real breast tissue. the same size saline implants in an asymmetric breast will guarantee an asymmetry postoperatively.
If the underlying breasts are different, they will age differently than if the underlying breast tissue is similar. A reduction in the larger...

Searching for symmetry in breast lift/augmentation
No one has perfectly symmetrical breasts so it is normal that you have some asymmetry. Some plastic surgeons feel that in cases like yours it makes sense to remove some tissue on the larger side because then both breasts with implants are the same, so syummetry is better. My own opinion is that using different sized implants makes more sense. If the degree of asymmetry is slight, there may not be any major problems with removing some tissue but it is a more complicated way to get to...

Breast asymmetry can be corrected with different size breast implants.
Hi.
1) In my opinion, adding a one sided breast reduction to a Benelli (circular scars around the nipples) breast lift with breast implants increases the chance of a complication.
2) You describe the difference in your breasts as slight. So the safest option is to correct the asymmetry with a smaller implant for your larger breast.
3) Your surgeon can use sterile disposable sizers during surgery to find what combination of breast implants will give you the best result....

Reduction of breast tissue can have potential side effects
In the case of breast asymmetry the choice to made includes reduction of the larger breast, augmentation of the smaller breast, or augmentation of both. Breast lift may be desirable for the larger breast if the skin envelope is very different, or the nipple is dependent to make the breast more 'similar'. Reduction of the breast will introduce more internal scar, and has the potential to reduce the ability to breast feed on the reduced side. Also there is more risk of sensory change in the...

Asymmetry and Breast Lift/Augmentation
When doing a Breast Lift/Augmentation and you wish to correct the asymmetry, there are 2 options. One is to reduce the larger and insert the same implant on both sides. The other is to use different implants. Although there are no long-term consequences from reducing one breast, and it is a very reasonable procedure, I have found it simpler for me to simply select different implants that will, after surgery, allow the breasts to match. That being said, if you like the doctor who proposed...

Reduction in breast asymmetry
It is certainly reasonable to reduce the larger breast to match the smaller one since it is better to use the same size and style of implant to achieve symmetry. There should be no long term consequences.

Breast symmetry with augmentation mastopexy
Either you reduce the larger breast a little to match the smaller one and use the same sized implants or you leave the breasts alone and use different sized implants to try to improve your asymmetry. The first plan is better because when you use different implants, they have different base widths and different projection profiles so you are dealing with more apples and oranges and have less chance of decent symmetry.
