I had rhinoplasty 4 years ago. My upper lip is not elevated as much as it was before and you do not see my upper teeth as much. The doctor said he did cut the depressor septi muscle. He said he could reconnect it to to fix the problem. Is it possible to do this?

Reconnecting the depressor septi muscle
Reconnecting the depressor septi muscle is not likely to be successful. The depressor septi muscle is a released to prevent the tip of the nose from drooping upon animation.

Reconnecting Depressor Septi Muscle
With all due repect to your surgeon, I think successful reconstruction of a small functioning depressor septi muscle would be challenging. However, this would be a relatively minor procedure. If there is not improvement in lip position, consider lip shortening techniques.

Depressor Septi Muscle
Hi,
This is a very small thin muscle. Once cut, it probably atrophies over time so it would be very difficult to to fine it. Even if it were found and reconnected I don't think it would work. So its probably not a good idea.
Best,
Dr.S.
