Advances in Rhinoplasty
Aesthetically, there is a continuing trend to create strong, well-defined noses. Although we continue to see overdone noses, that is less common today.
Technically, there is further refinement in existing procedures. There is increasing use of cartilage grafts (from the patient's own tissue) for augmentations and revisions. The open technique is increasing in popularity as surgeons realize there is more control and the results are more predictable.

Less is more!
Probably the most recent advance is more of an evolution than advance. Most rhinoplasty specialists now realize the importance of producing a naturally appearing "improved nose" through rhinplasty so many improvements involve refinements that can be done without drastic and unnatural consequences. Sometimes this involoves using "crushed cartlige" to reshape the tip appearance or other techniques that serve to reshap the nose into a more aesthetically pleasing shape. ...

YES!
HI,
Absolutely! Rhinoplasty is much more about rearranging cartilage and using structural grafts and sutures these days than compared to the past when Rhinoplasty was all about removing, removing, removing cartilage and bone. This results in much more natural and aesthetically pleasing noses than the fake, pinched, "hollywood noses" of the past. The new structural techniques allow for the nose to withstand the changes in skin contracture and scar tissue pressures over time. ...

Advances in rhinoplasty
There are many advances that have occurred in the field of rhinoplasty over the last ten years. To begin, there has been a gradual shift towards open rhinoplasty versus closed rhinoplasty. This is only the surgeon’s preference and has no effect on the end result. There are many new types of cartilage grafts that have been described for structural tip support including alar batten grafts, alar rim grafts, spreader grafts, dorsal grafts, and tip projection grafts. The single-most...

Main advance in rhinoplasty is the creation of better results
The actual techniques in rhinoplasty have not changed that much in 10 years. What has changed is that there is a better understanding of how to achieve more beautiful and natural looking results.
The old techniques of rhinoplasty focused on removing a lot of cartilage and bone and making noses fit a model of what we thought was "beautiful."
Now, there is less focus on removing cartilage and bone. The focus is more on how to mold the nose into a form which will be more beautiful...

Rhinoplasty advances
Hi!
The most important advance has been conceptual, not technical. The concept is that a nose does not have to be small to be elegant. It may sound obvious, but it wasn't.
The great technical advance in rhinoplasty is our ability now to sculpture and raise the tip of the nose with internal stitches and cartilage grafts.

Advances in Rhinoplasty
There have been considerable advances in rhinoplasty over the past two decades. The open rhinoplasty approach and an emphasis on supporting the nasal framework with cartilage grafts are allowing rhinoplasty surgeons to acheive more consistent and longer lasting results in rhinoplasty.
Another advance in rhinoplasty has been the development of computer imaging to help patients and their surgeon communicate more effectively about the desired goals for surgery. The patient's photos can be...

The most recent advance in noses is 30 years old!
More than 30 years ago, we pioneered "open rhinoplasty". In those days we were considered heretics! There is little change since then in the technique. Through teaching an entire generation the benefits of open rhinoplasty show in better noses being done today. There sill are some noses that are done closed. Choose the surgeon. not the technique!
