A stronger jawline may be possible with filler, but any significant jowling should be addressed surgically.  Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Radiesse For Jowls and Chin Augmentation for Stronger Jawline

+1

Juvederm, is best for areas like the lips, that require a soft even fill.

But  Radiesse can certainly be used to correct jowls and achieve a stronger jawline.

It is made of a calcium based compound called hydroxyapatite, which is not only ideal for filling in depressions in tissue, but also providing structural support as needed. Radiesse forms a scaffold lattice under the skin that provides this support. Over time new collegen fibers form over this lattice.

Radiesse is even used as a non-surgical nose job option for patients who want corrections in their nose bridge. Furthermore, it can be used to augment the chin for a stronger jawline.

Also because Radiesse can be used for structural corrections, it is quite ideal for jowls. Here is a patient who underwent who underwent Radiesse to target jowls as well as frown lines around the mouth.

Reducing Jowls and Augmenting the Chin Non-Surgically

Fillers can absolutely create a natural-looking augmented chin with no downtime, no anesthesia, and for considerably less cost. What's more, you can guide the procedure in real time, customizing your chin to your liking. I recommend Radiesse over any other filler, as it contains calcium hydroxyapatite, a substance that is identical to bone and teeth, and thus looks and feels most natural.

Sometimes fillers can be used to create a stronger jawline. They may also be able to soften the jowl areas as well, but if the skin is of poor quality or the jowls are really large, surgical options are better and sometimes done in conjunctioin with fillers.

Radiesse is a simple option for achieving a more masculine jaw

+1

Radiesse for a stronger jawline is probably the better option. The consistency of Radiesse makes it easy for the shape to be maintained. Juvederm is softer and is generally used in areas that are subject to frequent movement.

There are all kinds of options for reducing jowls - one of the ones becoming more prevalent is Ultherapy - an ultrasound focused energy treatment that has deep structural lifting ability. Though not as effective as surgery, it's a great option for jowls and a dropping neck.

Injectables for jowls simply "add to" and this may be something that will solve your issues. By adding Radiesse (or Perlane, a thicker hyaluronic gel) you can create a more fluid line of the jowl. This will make the jowl less apparent, though it does not actually affect the jowl itself as would the ultrasound.

Yes – this has become a new favorite for many of us injecting fillers.  Inject into the jowl area to soften the jowl and allow the area to appear to be fuller and firmer.  We can use Radiesse for this, Juvederm Ultra Plus, or Perlane to achieve this result.

Fillers to Improve the Jowls

+1

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and starts to sag creating jowls in the chin.  Fillers, such as Radiesse, can improve the appearance by filling in the indentation in front of the jowl (prejowl sulcus) to give you a straighter, more youthful jawline.  For older patients optimal results are generally attained with a lower facelift.  Please consult with a board certified specialist who can best help you achieve the results you seek.

Use of fillers to improve the jawline

+1

Loss of jawline shape is a result of two aging related changes. The first, the jawline looses its firm smooth look is volume loss in certain areas such as the pre-jowl and mandibular angle region.  The other reason is jowl formation from decent of the cheeks.  The optimal outcome is a combination of elevation of the cheeks with a facelift and filling those regions with a filler or fat transfer.  In patients in their forties or early 50s Juvederm or Radiesse can be used to improve the jawline by filling these regions if decent of the cheeks is minimal. In older patients, fillers are less effective as the cheek decent is too significant. It is important to understand this so expectations are met.
