What are good questions to ask surgeons when considering a rhinoplasty? It seems like Doctors don't do rhinoplasty as much as other cosmetic procedures, so I want to make sure I ask the right questions.

Questions before Rhinoplasty Surgery
Not all surgeons do everything well. It is appropriate to ask about a surgeon's practice during consultation. You want to see a lot of before/after photographs. How many pictures are on the physician's web site? I am admittedly biased, but after 35 years I feel experience does count.

Questions to ask when choosing a rhinoplasty surgeon
It is important to find a surgeon who has performed many rhinoplasty surgeries, both open and closed rhinoplasties. Find a surgeon whose original background is ear, nose, and throat surgery and is board certified in ear, nose, and throat surgery as well as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. A surgeon with this background would understand the functional and cosmetic aspects of the nose. The surgeon should have dedicated team of nurses and administrative staff for the rhinoplasty...

How to choose a rhinoplasty surgeon
Great question!
Rhinoplasty is a finesse procedure and requires an aesthetic eye. Some of this comes from experience and some is God given.
My recommendation is to narrow your choices to board certified plastic surgeons or board certified ENT surgeons who have an interest in rhinoplasty.
Make sure you are comfortable with the surgeon and his recommendations. Most critical is to look at before and after pictures to make sure you like the "style" of the surgeon.
Of course it is...

Questions when choosing doctor for rhinoplasty or nose job
I would first look at the doctors pre and post-op photos. If you see anything that you don't like, like pinched tip, scooped out nose, etc, then I would look elsewhere. Also, there is a fallacy that you have to have an open rhinoplasty, one with a scar across the base of the nose. That is absolutely not necessary to achieve an excellent result and may result in a bad outside scar and cause prolonged swelling of the nasal tip.

Choosing Your Rhinoplasty Surgeon
Hi Sara,
It is important to see your rhinoplasty surgeon's work. Before and after photos are okay, but ask to see and speak with actual patients. Then make sure that you feel that your surgeon understands your desired result and has the ability to help you achieve your goal. See the web reference below. Good luck and be well.

Asking them how many rhinoplasties may only get you lies.
Don't bother asking how many nose the surgeon's done! Although this is often blurted out as a question to ask, it's a question whose answer you can't possibly verify. You just can't. It's prone, therefore, to lies or exaggerations.
You can get a better sense of whether the surgeon does a lot by seeing the distribution of noses in his/her before and after photos. If there's a preponderance of rhinoplasty, you can bet it's an important part of the practice. Remember, McDonald's has sold...

How to choose a rhinoplasty surgeon.
You said it. Many surgeons only do a few rhinoplasties per year. Having done rhinoplasty for more than 30 years, I have my patients meet with other rhinoplasty patients in the office since we do so many. You should like the type of nose the surgeon does, since that is what you will end up with. Find an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon in your area.

Rhinoplasty questions to ask your doctor
There are some key questions I think you should ask your doctor. First how many rhinoplasty surgeries does he/she perform in a year. A surgeon who has a lot of experience with this surgery should perform at least 50 a year. Also the doctor should perform many revision rhinoplasty surgeries as the best way for a surgeon to have a lower rate of complications is to have experience in revising surgery performed elsewhere. Also ask the doctor his revision rate for his/her own patients....

Who Should Do My Rhinoplasty
Obviously a board certified plastic surgeon. I would look at the before and after photos and as the surgeon what their revision rate is.
Ask how many they do per year, and what percentage of their practice is rhinoplasty surgery. One word of advice: the more they have done does not correlate with the better they are. It is all about delivering the good results, no matter how many the surgeon has done.
Good luck.

Make sure you ask the right questions when undergoing cosmetic surgery
Hello - Whether it's for a rhinoplasty or any other cosmetic procedure, there are certain questions you should ask. Please see the following list:
1. What would you do meet my aesthetic goals?
2. Can I speak to other patients who have had this procedure?
3. What happens if I have a complication?
4. Can I see some of your before and after pictures?
5. Are you board eligible or board certified?
6. How do I get in touch with you if I have any...

Simple questions to ask before rhinoplasty
The most important question is "Do you consider yourself a skilled rhinoplastic surgeon" = and if the answer is Yes then ask Why?
An ENT Plastic surgery background is helpful and experience doing nose jobs is the most important .

Rhinoplasty Questions
Hi,
The surgeons website can give you alot of information about a surgeons training, experience and results ( before and after photos). When you find 2 or 3 surgeons that you may want to meet, you can ask to speak to recent rhinoplasty patients and make sure you get a computer imaging of your nose. Don't get bogged down on certifications. Results and patient satisfaction is what matters.
Best,
Dr.S.

You should find an experienced, board-certified Rhinoplasty specialist with many photos.
The experience of your Rhinoplasty surgeon is critical for obtaining a desired desult. If the doctors you've consulted aren't doing a lot of nose jobs, then you haven't found the right physician.
I think the internet is an excellent medium to learn vital information about your surgeon. You can check board-certification, fellowship training, years in practice, testimonials, and photos. If this all looks favorable, then go for a consultation to experience the doctor-patient relationship....

Finding a rhinoplasty expert
You are correct in that a rhinoplasty is one of the most challenging operations to perform especially for someone who does not perform a large number of them.
I would ask my surgeon what percentage of his practice involves rhinoplasty surgery, who does his revisions (it is best if he can do his own), what is his revision rate (typically 10-15%, if they tell you much less they are usually not being straight forward) and ask to see some of his pictures.
Finally, my preference is for a facial...

Rhinoplasty questions
Rhinoplasty is arguably one of the most challenging cosmetic procedures in plastic surgery, so some surgeons do not perform them if they are not comfortable with them. When you see a plastic surgeon or ENT, ask about board certification, the number of procedures he or she has done, and whether or not you can look at photos of other patients. If you have any special concerns with your nose, such as the tip or a dorsal hump, be sure to mention them to your surgeon during the consultation so...
