I have had a full tummy tuck and lipo on love handles 7 weeks ago. Swelling is improving, i still like to wear the binder, only taking it off , when the clothing Im wearing demands, when Im going out. I have considerable puckering ,above the incision line, especially on the right side , a little like too much material being eased into a smaller amount of material. I am very concerned this will remain, as it looks horrible. How long will this continue and is it normal?

Recovery from Tummy Tuck

Without seeing pictures of before and after or seeing you in person, it is impossible to give you specific advice. At 7 weeks you should start to see some smoothing of any puckering and continued improvement for the next several months. However, you should follow closely with your surgeon to make sure your healing is on track. Good Luck.

Puckering after Tummy Tuck

You are correct as to the cause of the problem, namely trying to bunch too much tissue from a longer upper incision line into a shorter lower incision line. This definitely will improve over many months, but may still require revision. You should definitely wait 3 to 6 months to allow the tissue to reach its final state.

“Puckering” after Tummy Tuck?

Thank you for the question. Your description of “puckering” does describe the situation often seen during the first few weeks/ months after tummy tuck surgery. This occurs because your plastic surgeon has tried to keep your incision line as short as possible. You will find that this situation will improve significantly on a monthly basis ( don't check it on a daily basis). Continue to follow-up with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes. see video
