Ptosis surgery

Many surgical specialities perform eyelid surgery, but ptosis is a very difficult thing to correct. See someone who performs a lot ot ptosis surgery, such as an oculoplastic surgeon.

Ptosis

Plane and simple. You need to consult a board certified oculoplastic surgeon. Many other types of surgeons can perform this procedure but, be safe

Finding an Expert in Eyelid Surgery

Oculo-plastic surgeons are highly specialized surgeons who trained in ophthalmology first, then went on to obtain additional training in plastic surgery of the eyelids, orbit and surrounding area. For ptosis surgery, an oculo-plastic surgeon should be your first choice. An internet search for ASOPRS in the US or ESOPRS in Europe will help you find oculo-plastic surgeons who can help you.

Picking a Specialist for Eyelid Ptosis Repair

Although some plastic surgeons will do this procedure, oculoplastic surgeons have the best training and most experience. This is a difficult surgery to get right, so it is worthwhile to be highly selective in choosing a surgeon.

Which doctor for ptosis repair?

IMHO, there is no controversy about this. You need to see an experienced oculoplastic or eye plastic surgeon. In the states, we have ASOPRS, which indicates the highest level of specialization and training (but which does not guarantee a perfect result). In Europe, there is the ESOPRS.
