Breast implants after breast feeding

I usually recommend waiting about 3 to 6 months after breast feeding before placing breast implants. Any remaining breast milk, during the surgery, can increase the risk of post operative infection. Also, it may take a few months for the breasts to shrink or involute to their long term size. Waiting a few months will allow a patient to have a better idea of what size implant will be best over the long run.

Breast implants after breast feeding

Breast implants should not be placed in a patient that just completed breast feeding. You should wait until the breasts have settled down andno longer lactating. I would have you wait at least 4-6 months.

Breast Implants Right After Breastfeeding?

The standard of care issue is to allow involution of the lactating breasts over a few months so the levels of prolactin decrease and the edema effect from the milk production subsides. This is usually at 3 to 6 months from breasting.

Breast implant surgery should not be done immediately after nursing stops

Breast implant surgery like every other surgey has inherent risks. These risks are much higher if the surgery is done right after one stops breast feeding. Some of these risks include bleeding, fluid or milk collection in the breast and drooping. The breast shrinks after nursing. The skin gets looser because there is less tissue. It is difficult to accurately determine the best size implant to use or the amount of lift to perform is... more

Breast implants after breast feeding

It is not a good idea , you should wait at least few weeks after last breast feeding. Give them a chance to rest & return to their normal status before suject them to the surgical trauma . You and your surgeon would be in a better position to select the implants.

How long to wait after breastfeeding for breast augmentation

Patients should wait at least 4-6 months after discontinuing breast feeding to have breast implant surgery. There is a higher risk of getting a milk collection in the surgical pocket if done earlier than that, and that can lead to infection with loss of the implant, or capsular contracture with a need for further surgery. Also, you need time for the breast to settle into its stable size and shape so that implant size and surgical technique can be planned accordingly. more

There are NO advantages to getting breast implants right after breastfeeding

There are several disadvantages and no advantages to having a breast augmentation during or right after breast feeding. The milk ducts are not sterile. In Breast Augmentation some of the ducts are cut during the placement of implants an as a result bacteria present in the ducts come in contact with and can colonize and infect the breast implants resulting either in scarring around the implant (Capsular Contracture) or an outright infection requiring implant removal. The best way to... more
