Recovery after chin implant

+1

There are two ways of chin implant placement: intraoral and external. With intraoral approach an implant is introduced via small incision inside the mouth. External approach utilizes small skin incision placed under the chin in the skin crease. In spite of this difference, the recovery process is the same. You should expect some pain, discomfort, and swelling in the chin area for about a week postoperatively. A supporting bandage is usually placed over the implant to secure it's position and is kept for about 5-7 days. If external approach is used then the skin sutures are removed one week postoperatively; no sutures need to be removed with intramural approach since they are absorbable. The pain is usually very tolerable, about 3-4 on a scale of 1-10.
