Dear Skilla,

Yes, this is possible.  It is important for your surgeon to have the operative report of the original operation so that he can plan accordingly.

Yes, this can be done but will require opening the incisions and finding all of the suture material.

The treatment of SMAS ( The layer below the skin , and above the muscle in the face ) during a facelift varies from surgeon to surgeon and different methods exist. It is very important to know what allergic reaction you have or is it a dermal suture reaction you are having. Review of the original operative report and a good examination should answer your question. A Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should be able to review all information and discuss your options and the consequences.

It would be possible to remove any permanent sutures that were placed during a SMAS facelift.  The only way to do this however, would be to go back in surgically.
