A pinch usually refers to removing a pinch of skin laterally

A pinch usually refers to removing a pinch of skin laterally. With a blepharoplasty, fat is often removed in addition to the skin, but sometimes it can be done in combination with a “pinch”. And, sometimes a blepharoplasty is done with a laser instead of removing a pinch of skin. But, as far as when one is more useful than the other, it really depends on the skin tone and texture. You should see an oculofacial plastic surgeon who is known for his or her aesthetic eye to see... more

"Pinch" and lower lid blepharoplasty

A pinch technique is simply a way of getting rid of excess lower eyelid skin and is a part of the lower blepharoplasty. During lower lid blepharoplasty, fat pads are removed through a transconjunctival approach where an incision is made on the inside of the eyelid. Then only when there is excess skin to remove, usually 2 to 3mm, a pinch technique is performed at the lash line. Tissue glue is used to close the incision. In very rare cases when there are no bags on the lower lids the pinch... more

A Pinch Lower Blepharoplasty Only Removes Excess Skin

The Pinch Lower Blepharoplasty can be a very valuable and less invasive approach to contouring the lower lid.  In patients who have a strong muscular sling, excess skin is separated from the muscle using a dissection technique and sometimes medications injected to the skin.  The excess skin is simply trimmed off and the edges are carefully closed.  Some patients with fat pockets or weak muscles under the eyes require more support and contouring, and other methods are... more

Confused about Lower Lid "Pinch" VS Lower Lid Blepharoplasty

Lower Lid Blepharoplasty is the term that generally describes ALL cosmetic Lower Lid Operations. A "Pinch" is a descriptive term of a SUBSET of lower lid operations described as Trans-cutaneous Lower Lid Blepharoplasty . While in Trans cutaneous the surgeon reaches the lower lid fat bags by going through skin, muscle and septum, in a pinch the only layer cut and removed is the skin layer. It is a good procedure by itself in people with mild skin excess but without... more

Pinch Blepharoplasty

Pinch Blepharoplasty is good when you have a moderate amount of loose skin and good lid support.  If you have poor lid support or excessive loose skin, then you may need a more involved procedure.  Good luck.

Pinch Lower Lid Blepharoplasty?

In my opinion, a "pinch" lower lid approach is rarely a very good approach. The reason:  when skin excess on the eyelid (dermatochalasis) is a factor, a "pinch" approach is rarely sufficient to address the problem. Lower lid skin removal ins situations of skin excess requires a subciliary incision (beneath the lash line). The lower eyelid is a rather weak structure, and any significant skin removal requires repositioning and support for the eyelid in order to... more

There are a number of ways to remove extra skin from the eyelids in blepharoplasty

The pinch excision is one technique used to remove extra skin in Blepharoplasty. IT is more commonly used on the lower eyelid but can be used for the uppers as well. This is no more or less effective than other skin removal techniques. It really depends on what needs to be treated in your eyelids and the preferred technique for your surgeon.

A "pinch" is a lower blepharoplasty.

We surgeons like cutesy non-threatening expressions that conjure up images of things that don't imply surgery.  "Lower eyelid pinch" is one of those expressions.  However, this involves surgery.  It is usually used on a younger person who has a little excess skin in the lower eyelid but not a whole lot.  The skin is collected up just below the lower eyelid lashes and pinched with a forceps to crush this skin.  The skin is then trimmed (surgically... more
