Photodymnamic Therapy Brown Blotches on Cheeks

I have recieved 2 of the 3 reccomended treatments. I only had this reaction after the 2nd one. I was told by the nurse who administered the treatment (without her seeing me) that it was from being in the sun. However, the brown spots occured while she was doing the treatment and she even mentioned it was occuring. I just thought it would peel off like the first time. However it has not and now I am concerned that I have damaged the skin even more and am permanently scarred.Is this normal?
