hi, the bmi at 35 can have minimal comorbidities like sleep apnea, reflux, back problems..ect...u should do research & as kirsty said t-chk w/ a bariatric dr or even their patient coordinator since they are the ones that work directly with the insurancee companies to get u approved. But I am 5'2 1/2-5'3 & my office told me i cant go under 196lbs. I actually hav a friend that gained 10-15lbs to get her band which is definitly crzy to think about but it got her her band & shes 5 yrs in & loving herself for it. Good luck

Hi there,

I'm not a doctor, so please don't take this as medical advice. However, at your weight and height, you wouldn't normally be eligble for Weight Loss Surgery. Most doctors will only perform WLS on a person with a BMI of over 40, or over 35 if they also have co-morbidities. At your weight and height, you have a BMI of around 32-33.

You should visit your doctor to talk about what options are available to you to help you lose weight naturally. You could also enquire about WLS and see what their professional opinion is.
