In 2005, I had a VP brain shunt. It wasn't the typical brain shunt surgery. Mine was a bit more complicated. My NSG had to go in through the top of my skull, versus behind the ear. I had a 7 cm arachnoid cyst, hydrocephalus, and two syringes. My maladies were life-threatening. It would be great if there is a doctor out there who has experience performing a liposuction procedure on a patient with a shunt - the tubing of which carries the CSF into the stomach. Thanks!

I have gotten consults for this, but I have not performed this surgery
on a patient with a VP shunt. Unless the shunt path can be mapped out
so that it is avoided completely, I do not think surgery would be
advisable.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
